Bingo night to raise money for Habitat

 

Want to help build a home for someone in need but don’t have the skills?  You can help out by playing bingo.

Union County Habitat for Humanity is holding a benefit bingo event on Wednesday, May 22 at Durbin Council KC Hall, 189 Jim Vetch Road.

Doors open at 5 with the action commencing at 7 p.m.

There will be games, a snack bar and more.

Health screenings, door prizes and entertainment are on the agenda when Methodist Hospital of Union County holds its open house next week.

The event takes place between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. at the Morganfield facility.

Lunch will be available between 11 and 2.

Stop in and take advantage while you get to know what’s new at the hospital.

A Civil War encampment will take place on Saturday, April 13 at the Uniontown City Park.

There will be mock battles, cannon firings, educational displays and more.

The encampment will be going on all day and the public is invited.

There will be a Scrapbook Crop at Sturgis First Baptist Church, April 13, beginning at 9:00 a.m.

The crop is free, but donations will be accepted to help the Sturgis Rest Home. A light lunch will be provided for all attendees. Bring a liter and snack to share.

Sell your arts, crafts, food in Henderson

 

Green River Area Development District is currently accepting applications from artisans, craftsmen, and food vendors for the 41st Annual GRADD Arts & Crafts Festival. An autumn tradition in the Tri-State, the festival will be held the weekend of October 5-6, 2013, at Henderson’s scenic Audubon State Park.

The fee for art/craft booths (15 feet by 15 feet) is $100, and concession spaces (also 15 feet by 15 feet) are $150 each. Registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis until all spaces are filled. There is no commission taken on sales. For art/craft vendors, only hand-crafted items may be displayed and sold (no mass-produced items).

Union Co. elementary students invite you to their dance concert

45 students from three Union County elementary schools will be featured in an Elementary Dance Concert on Saturday.

Union County Schools say the students auditioned at the beginning of January and have been rehearsing for ten weeks.

Union County native, Mark Lamb has been working with the student who will be performing an energetic display and combination of dance techniques. The concert will include group dance, girls dance, and an all-boys action hero sequence. 

The concert is Saturday, March 23 at 7:00 p.m. at UCHS Auditorium.

Fun day for literacy at UCHS Saturday

 

A free children’s literacy event is set for Saturday at Union County High School.

Sponsored by the Union County Early Childhood Council, it’ll take place from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Parents and adults are welcome to experience games, crafts, literacy and math fun, face painting, music, storytelling, balloon creations, healthy snacks and much more.  Free books for kids and adults will be given away.

The UCHS Steppaz will perform.
