Meet legislators tonight in Morganfield

Union County Public Library District will be hosting a Legislative Meet & Greet today (October 18) from 4 - 6pm at the Morganfield location. 126 South Morganfield. Guests may include Sen. Dorsey Ridley and Rep. John Arnold.

Come and tell your state legislators and candidates and other county officials how important your library is to your community. Refreshments will be served.

Public invited as State of the County, Cities breakfast planned

A State of the County and Cities Breakfast is planned for Friday, October 26 at the Extension Service on U.S. 60 near Morganfield.

Several local organizations have been working together to create the event,  and the public is invited.  There is no charge, but reservations should be made by e-mailing Annette Buckman at acbu222@email.uk.edu  or Paul Monsour at paul.monsour@unioncountyky.org.

Methodist Hospital backing "Pink Out" football game with screenings, open house, tailgate

In celebration of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Methodist Hospital Union County is participating in Union County High School’s “Pink Out” football game activities.

On Friday, October 12, from 1-3 p.m. the MHUC Radiology Department will host a public open house. Community members are invited to tour the Radiology Department and see the tools and equipment used to screen and/or diagnose breast cancer. Information on “Mammograms for Western Kentucky”, the Hospital’s grant from the Komen Foundation, will also be available. This grant program provides screening mammograms and follow-up procedures at a free or reduced cost to uninsured or underinsured men and women.

Highway 60 Yard Sale is this weekend

The seventh annual Highway 60 Yard Sale will take place this Friday-Sunday, October 5-7.  The sale will stretch for 200 miles along U.S. Highway 60 through Livingston, Crittenden, Union, Henderson, Daviess, Hancock, Breckinridge, and Meade counties in western Kentucky.

Hundreds of local individuals, businesses, and groups are expected to participate this year, setting up yard sales and craft booths on their properties along the highway.   According to GRADD, the event allows visitors from Kentucky and surrounding states to shop for bargains “while taking in the distinctive flavor of the Ohio Valley’s unique restaurants, shops, and southern hospitality”.

Property owners located along U.S. Highway 60 may participate in the event by either holding a yard sale or sidewalk sale or offering the use of their property to yard sale participants.

Humane Society of Henderson County Wag Walk 2012 Runners and Sponsors Needed

The 2nd annual Humane Society of Henderson County 5K Wag Walk is just around the corner, and the time to register is now!

The The 5K event is scheduled for Saturday October 27, 2012 and will be held downtown in Central Park.   They are currently seeking runners, and sponsors for the event.

To register for the race, the fee is $25.00 per entry, and that comes with an event tee shirt.  The registration for the race is at 7am, and race starts at 8am.  Medals will be awarded to the winners and runner ups.

Hoses and Hot Rods car & truck show this weekend

The Hoses and Hot Rods Car and Truck Show is set for Saturday, September 29, at the Ohio County Courthouse square in Hartford from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

There will be games for kids and concessions available with proceeds benefiting the Hartford Fire Department which is looking to buy some new equipment.

Admission is free.

All new and old trucks and cars are welcome.  Entry fee is $10.

Dude looks like a lady:  'Mr. Webster County' pageant set for Oct. 18

How well do Webster County guys look dressed like girls? Find out by attending the “Mr Webster County Pageant” October 18 at 7 p.m. in the WCHS auxiliary gym.

Admission is $5 per person. 

The school club sponsoring the winner receives $30; first runner up $20 and second runner up $10.
