KY 145 in Webster to close on Monday

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to close KY 145 in Webster County on Monday, May 20.

Cabinet officials say KY 145 will be closed at the 0.2 mile point to allow the replacement of a cross drain. This is near the Webster-Henderson County Line just north of the Poole Community.

The closure is expected to begin around 8:30 a.m., CDT, with work completed by about 3:00 p.m.

There will be no marked detour. However, motorists may self-detour via  KY 2253/Cairo-Dixie road north of the closure point and US 41-Alternate south of the closure point.

New scholarship opportunity for Union Co. students

UNION CO, KY (WFIE)-

Some Union County High School students may be eligible for a new college scholarship program next year. 

It's called "Braves 2 College."  Henderson Community College president Dr. Kris Williams says the scholarship will help graduates of Union County High School who meet academic, attendance, and behavioral criteria.  

Williams tells us students who qualify can receive up to a thousand dollars per year for four years of college.  

Union Co. softball coach says girls are doing fine

UNION CO., KY (WFIE)- 14 News has been told that the Union County girls' softball team is recovering after their bus overturned on Highway 60 in Livingston County on Friday evening.

We spoke with the head coach Nikki Conway who says many of the girls are back at school and that the team is anxious to get back out on the field.

Webster County seeks homeowners for rehabilitation project

 

Webster County Fiscal Court is seeking to identify low- to moderate-income residents who have homes in need of significant repairs.

GRADD is working with local officials to submit a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) application to fund the rehabilitation of up to eight existing houses within Webster County.

“It is the Webster County Fiscal Court’s ongoing goal to better the lives of all our residents,” said Webster County Judge/Executive Jim Townsend. “And this grant offers a tremendous opportunity for program-eligible residents to pursue a decent, safe and affordable housing solution.”

Mother of softball player involved in bus crash speaks out

LIVINGSTON CO., KY- It took five different EMS services and every fire department in the county to get all 21 softball players, the driver, the coach, and two more adults off a bus that over-turned Friday night while traveling to a game.

One parent of those students on board is speaking out about how the community came together to help out.

Bus carrying Union Co. softball team overturns on US 60

LIVINGSTON CO., KY- Several Union County softball players are in the hospital Friday night following a school bus accident.

The accident was on Highway U.S. 60 in Livingston County, Kentucky, east of Smithland. 28 people on the bus were taken to the hospital, 24 were students.

Students and family members immediately turned to social media and many of the players say they lost their cell phones in the accident and were using Facebook to update the community.

Students were gathering in Morganfield to show their support and pray for their classmates.

Missing Tri-State woman's mom speaks out after Cleveland girls return home

HOPKINS CO., KY (WFIE)- The amazing rescue story in Cleveland, OH. struck close to home with the mother of Heather Teague.

Heather has been missing for more than 17-years now. She was last seen sun bathing at Newburgh Beach in Henderson County.

The miracle in Ohio reminds her mother, Sarah, to never give up hope that one day she will find out what happened to her daughter.
