Faster internet for Webster County students | News
Webster County schools received a $500,000 grant in 2011 from the Universal Services Fund. This was to improve communications and internet access to all their school campuses. Officials say the on-site installation for the new fiber optic system has been completed, and the four separate school campuses will be linked this week.
With the current system, students are limited in which internet programs they can use because of limited bandwidth. Officials say this new system will allow studetns to access education programs, they used to not be able to.
CSX will be out this week to connect lines which connect Clay and Providence Elementary to the new 4-campus network. The new system allows more advanced classes at Webster High School because true video streaming is now possible.
