KY 874 closed due to damaged bridge | News
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet today closed KY 874 at mile marker 1 in Webster County due to a damaged bridge, just west of Dixon.
A KYTC maintenance crew spotted a settling of the bridge deck, and bridge inspectors confirmed structural damage, possibly caused by an overweight load.
The bridge crosses a fork of Fredericks Ditch in Webster County. Four wooden pilings supporting a pier were shattered. The bridge was restricted to a 20 ton load limit.
The closure is indefinite. KYTC engineers will further inspect the bridge to see whether repair is possible or feasible.
Anyone with information on overweight loads that may have crossed the bridge should contact Kentucky State Police.
