New school expected to be ready by 2014-15

Students, faculty, and church officials from St. Anne's broke ground on Friday in Morganfield, on the new school.

The new school will be named 'John Paul II Catholic School' and it will replace the 100-year-old St. Anne's Catholic school.

Principle Beth Hendrickson says the current building is deteriorating and will be torn down once the new school is complete.

The new school project is being funded entirely by donations and is projected to cost $8 million. So far, Hendrickson says they've raised half that amount, and she believes the community will provide the other half in time.

"They're going to continue through the capital campaigns," says Hendrickson. "And we really feel that when you start shoveling the dirt, more donations will come."

School officials say they expect the new school to be complete by the 2014-2015 school year.
