WCHS hoop coaches named best in region | Sports & Recreation

Webster County boys’ basketball coach Jon Newton and girls’ coach Parker McCalister have been selected as the 2013 KABC Coaches of the Year by their colleagues in Region 2.  

Coach Newton will be formally presented his award on Friday, March 8, at  half time of the second game of the afternoon session of the Sweet “16” State Tournament in Lexington.  The Trojans had to replace several players  including all five starters from last year’s District championship team but haven’t missed a beat.

Coach McCalister, who just finished his first season at WCHS, will be formally presented his award on Friday, March 15 at half time of the first game of the afternoon session of the Girls Sweet “16” State Tournament in WKU’s Diddle Arena in Bowling Green.
