The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans daytime closures along about a five-mile section of KY 360 in Union County starting today and continuing through about Friday, May 24.

These daytime closures of KY 360 will be at various locations between about the 8 mile marker at Uniontown and the intersection with KY 359 at mile point 13.6 are to allow the replacement of about 8 cross drains.

The work along this section of KY 360 will be near Smith Mills/Uniontown Road, KY 1637/John Hite Road, Hodgins Road and Sam Yates Road.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet is moving ahead with plans to replace a bridge on KY 874 near the Lisman community south of Dixon in Webster County.

In June 2012, the KY 874 Fredericks Ditch Bridge between KY 279 and KY 1340 was closed after four pilings on the structure were crushed causing it to drop about six inches. Transportation officials believe the incident was caused by an overweight truck.  The bridge was restricted to a 20-ton load limit at the time of the incident.

KYTC District 2 Chief Engineer Kevin McClearn and his design staff began working on replacement plans and looking for a funding source get a project to construction.

Governor Steve Beshear today announced that asphalt rehabilitation projects totaling more than $64 million have been awarded by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet as the spring construction season continues.

Two sections of Webster County highway are scheduled for paving including a 0.4-mile section of Main Street (KY 56) from Short Street to KY 370 and a 2-mile section of Dixon-Clay Road (KY 132) from KY 493 TO KY 109.

Road Builders LLC was awarded the contract for $264,864.  Completion date is mid-November.

KY 56 near Union-Webster line closed Thursday

 

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to close KY 56 in Webster County on Thursday, May 9.

This closure on KY 56 about ½ mile east of the Webster-Union County Line near the Tilden community is to allow the replacement of a collapsed cross drain.

The roadway is expected to close about 8:00 a.m., CDT, Thursday.  It should reopen to traffic by about 4:00 p.m., Thursday.

There will be a marked detour via KY 983 from US 41-Alternate at the north edge of Dixon to the Boxville Community in Union County.

Mowing along KY roadways begins; KTC says be alert

 

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet reminds you that state highway crews and contract crews have started litter pickup and mowing activities across the region.  Motorists are reminded that mowing equipment operators are required to cross travel lanes from time to time as they go about their work.  Motorists are reminded that a mowing zone requires the same caution as any other work zone.

Whenever you see a Mowing Zone sign please slow down and be alert.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to close KY 630 in Webster County on Friday, April 26.

This closure on KY 630/Manitou Road near the 5 mile marker is to allow the emergency replacement of a cross drain.  Recent rains have washed out the shoulder and created a cavity under the roadway at this location.

KY 630 will be closed from approximately 8:00 a.m. to approximately 5:00 p..m., CDT, on Friday.  This closure point is about a mile south of KY 132 near the KY 630 intersection with Bald Knob Hill Road in Webster County.

KY 132 closed for cross drain replacement work

 

KY 132 in Webster County is closed between Dixon and Clay to allow additional cross drain replacement work that started last Friday.

KY 132 is closed between the 13 mile marker and mile point 13.5 between Dixon and Clay.

This is on KY 132 between Free Union-Tilden Road and Nat Taylor Road about 3 miles west of Dixon.

There will be no marked detour.  However, motorists may self detour via KY 1340.
